Common Ministry Questions

Often we receive questions concerning the ministry. We want to take this opportunity to tell you about us by answering some common questions we receive about the ministry.

How long have you been ministering in the inner healing & deliverance ministry?

Andrea & David have been ministering inner healing, deliverance and spiritual direction for over 15 years at their home church. Gethsemane Prayer Ministries was established over 10 years ago as a not for profit, 501C3 ministry outreach to the Christian community.

Who are the people you minister to?

The person coming for ministry can range from newborn to any age including adoptive children. If an adult, most often they have a personal relationship with Jesus, have been walking with the Lord for a period of time and ideally attend a church. If a teen or child, at least one of the parents should have a personal relationship with Jesus and attend a church. It is also advisable that at least one parent go through the ministry process prior to the child.

What type of ministry do you offer?

Gethsemane Prayer Ministries is established primarily as an inner healing ministry to come along side those struggling with hurt from their past or present situations and a deliverance ministry to bring freedom from demonic oppression in their life. The majority of people who come for ministry have already tried different ways to find freedom but still struggle in receiving the freedom God desires for them. These people usually come through referrals from friends, family, pastors and even professional counselors.

Are you a counseling ministry?

Gethsemane Prayer Ministries is a prayer ministry not a professional counseling service but does come along side the person coming for ministry and help them work through the challenges that they may be facing in their walk with Jesus. We believe that the true counselor to those who come for ministry is the Holy Spirit. It is our desire that those who come for ministry hear the heart of the Holy Spirit and receive freedom from life’s hurts.

Do you offer ministry for marriages?

Primarily Gethsemane Prayer Ministries is not designed for in depth marriage ministry. People who come for ministry are often dealing with marriage issues that may be affecting their walk with Jesus. We work with the individual and on occasion with couples. Areas where a couple may need professional marriage counseling we do have suggested referrals of counselors who we believe would be better equipped to help the couple. For single people planning on marrying we do offer pre-marital preparation ministry, after they have gone through individual ministry.

What does a ministry session look like?

Every session will vary somewhat depending on the person. The person coming for the first time will fill out a profile form before the first session. The profile form has several purposes; first help the person coming for ministry gather their thoughts and needs; second it helps the person focus on their and the family’s past so they begin to identify patterns established in their life; third it helps us as ministers focus on areas of need. The first session, which usually goes for 90 minutes to 2 hours, is a time of finding out about the person and them hopefully getting comfortable with us as ministers. Homework is given after the first ministry session. It consists of CD’s to listen to and articles to read, at no charge, which prepares them for receiving ministry. The second and third sessions consists primarily of prayer ministry time and discussing new revelations the person may have discovered about themselves after doing the homework. After the third session, it is up to the person coming to decide if they need additional ministry.

During ministry is what I share kept confidential?

Both Andrea and David are ordained ministers; everything shared during ministry is kept confidential. The only exceptions are if child molestation is involved, we are required by law to report the individual. Also if a person is considered suicidal, we morally are obligated to get that person professional help but will come along side in both cases as they receive professional help, if they so desire.
